READ THIS

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

This CD-ROM is a collection of images, text, and interactive geographic information regarding potential fire hazards in the East Bay Hills. You can browse the images and text by using a world wide web browser, such as Mosaic, etc. We recommend that you begin by viewing the information in this format before viewing the maps in ArcView.

To query specific geographic information, you will need to install ArcView Version 1.0 if you do not already own it. Please note that ArcView Version 1.0 for Windows does not operate under Windows 95, Windows NT or Macintosh Operating systems.
ArcView 1.0 is a software program that enables you to explore, query, and print maps and other spatial information. With Arcview 1.0 you will be able to query and display information from the East Bay Hills Fire Hazard Model.

In order to run ArcView Version 1.0 for Windows we recommend:
An Intel-based 486 Computer or Higher
Microsoft Windows 3.0 to Windows 3.11
8 MB Memory
12 MB Disk Space for Software Installation; Additional Disk Space for Data Storage
Color Monitor, Mouse; Windows-supported Printer (optional)
To install ArcView Version 1.0, you will need to close this section of the CD-ROM and open the Arcview1 folder. Open install.txt and follow the instructions. All the data needed for ArcView 1.0 is in the AV1 folder. After you have finished installing ArcView 1.0, you may want to copy all of the data from the AV1 folder on the CD-ROM to your hard drive.

If you have ArcView Version 2.1, you can go directly to the subdirectory "AV2" which contains all the data needed for displaying the maps and other information of potential fire hazards in the East Bay hills.

Responsibility for the accuracy, errors and omissions of information on this CD-ROM is that of the original sources. Interpret the information in the fire hazard maps with caution.
